Webinar Description:

This webinar will address the Product Development and Information Dissemination UCEDD core functions. This is the eighth installment of a multi-part series titled "Coffee and TA," addressing the UCEDD core functions as categorized in NIRS. This webinar features two UCEDDs (Partnership for People with Disabilities at Virginia Commonwealth University & Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities at Kennedy Krieger Institute) highlighting innovative product development and information dissemination.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of participating in this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Articulate their responsibilities related to product development and information dissemination as articulated in the DD Act and OIDD guidance.
  • Describe innovative methods to increase UCEDD-community engagement using culturally and linguistically competent products.
  • Apply the lessons learned from model product development and information dissemination activities/infrastructure of peers in the UCEDD network to their own center's activities.

Dana Yarbrough is the assistant director of strategic initiatives for the Partnership for People with Disabilities, Virginia's university center for excellence in developmental disabilities located at Virginia Commonwealth University. Among her many roles at VCU, Dana is a community supports specialist and directs the Center for Family Involvement and its initiatives statewide to support diverse families of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to become effective advocates for their children and leaders for systems change. Dana holds a masters in transformational non-profit leadership and a masters in special education secondary transition.

Maureen van Stone is the director of the Maryland Center for Developmental Disabilities (MCDD) at Kennedy Krieger Institute and the director of Project HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, and Law), a MCDD community-based program. Project HEAL is Maryland's only medical-legal partnership, which provides advocacy and legal services to low-income families and children with disabilities who receive services at Kennedy Krieger. Maureen earned a bachelor's degree in psychology at the University of Southern California, a master's degree in developmental psychology at The Johns Hopkins University, and a Juris Doctor at Whittier Law School, with a concentration on children's legal issues. Prior to law school, Maureen worked as a clinician on the Neurobehavioral Unit in the Department of Behavioral Psychology at Kennedy Krieger for six years.
