Webinar Description:

An increasing number of states are moving the management of Medicaid Long-term Services and Supports programs (i.e.. Medicaid Waivers) to Managed Care Organizations (Insurance Companies). This Webinar will provide an overview of state implementation, will provide specific examples of innovations and offer strategies for the AUCD network to become involved in these efforts. Based on a 2019 AUCD policy brief written by Sarah Swanson of the Munroe-Meyer Institute and the accompanying paper, Stakeholder Guide to Understand and Have Involvement in MLTSS, the Webinar is designed to network members and individuals with disabilities and their families understand this sometimes complex topic so they can be engaged in this policy change. The Webinar will look at some specific examples of new programs, trends and innovations arising since the paper was completed.

Presenters:

  • Sarah Swanson, MPH, Assistant Professor, Family Support & Outreach Coordinator, Family Care Enhancement Project Manager, Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation, University of Nebraska Medical Center
  • John Tschida, MPP, Acting Executive Director, AUCD
  • Denise Rozell JD, Director of Policy Innovation, AUCD
