To meet the Joint Committee on Infant Hearing's (2000) goals of identifying hearing loss by three months of age and fitting appropriate amplification within a month of diagnosis, audiologists must have the appropriate knowledge and expertise. This telephone seminar presents a case study demonstrating the use of real ear measures critical for ensuring appropriate hearing aid fitting. Participants are introduced to frequency compression/transposition (FC) devices that allow fitting for a broad variety of hearing loss configurations. Included is an overview of the selection of hearing aid technologies, and features for the pediatric population.
