Do you still have questions about what the Affordable Care Act means for people with disabilities? Open enrollment starts October 1, and health coverage starts January 1, so join this timely webinar to learn about the current status of ACA implementation and some key details important for people with disabilities, families and professionals. The webinar will cover where the nation and the states stand in implementing the Affordable Care Act, the new coverage available through the Health Insurance Marketplaces and Medicaid expansion, in-depth details on state Marketplace and Medicaid decisions that impact people with disabilities, and the assistance available to help consumers navigate the system. The webinar will also feature insights from UCEDDs involved in ACA implementation at the state level.
Rachel Patterson, MPA Rachel Patterson serves as the Policy Analyst for the Legislative Affairs team at AUCD. She has taken the lead on health and Affordable Care Act issues at AUCD, leading AUCD's State Health Reform Implementation Workgroup to create a forum for information sharing and technical assistance for members involved in state-level implementation. She also represents AUCD in the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities task forces on health and long-term services and supports to comment on federal-level implementation David Deere, MSW, MTH David Deere is the director of Partners for Inclusive Communities, AR.Since the beginning of Arkansas's efforts to plan their Health Insurance Exchange, the UCEDD has held a contract with the Arkansas Insurance Department to engage stakeholders in the planning process. David has served on the Exchange Steering Committee, the Consumer Assistance Advisory Committee, and the Navigator Sub-committee. In the summer of 2011, he conducted 47 community meetings to gather stakeholder input about the Exchange.
