Promoting Best Practices in Foster Care through
Innovative Training of Community Providers: A Mode
l

Webinar Objectives:

1. To learn about the interface between a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and a foster care program.

2. To learn about a statewide Best Practices dissemination project to build capacity for providing effective trauma treatment to children and families.

3. To learn about the importance of sustainability planning as part of a capacity building dissemination project.

Webinar Description:

During the past six years, through its statewide network of five regional Centers of Excellence for Children in State Custody (COEs), Tennessee has had the opportunity to develop experienced purveyors in the dissemination of evidence-based practices. The Boling Center COE was launched in 2002 to assist the Department of Children's Services (DCS) and community providers in improving behavioral health services for children in or at risk of state custody. In 2007, the COEs were given additional funding to initiate the COE Best Practices Collaborative, a project designed to disseminate models of treatment that have been proven to be effective in addressing the impact of trauma, attachment disruption, and other problems resulting from child abuse and neglect. Since then, the Best Practices Collaborative has completed four Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Learning Collaboratives and has used the Learning Collaborative model to disseminate additional evidence-based practices. The presentation will focus on the coordination of the statewide dissemination efforts of the BPC and lessons learned regarding sustainability planning.
