The Institute on Disability and Human Development at the University of Illinois at Chicago is holding a workshop called "Becoming a Sexuality Educator: Leading Groups" led by a nationally recognized presenter. This training uses a two person team approach that includes people with disabilities and support person to come and learn how to lead sexuality education and training at your own organization.

Space is limited and available on a first come, first serve basis--please let me know if you are interested.

This workshop is designed to help you become more comfortable and confident teaching a sexuality education class in your agency. During this workshop, you will receive a manual on how to get a class started and a curriculum with lesson plans to use with your class.

Participants will:

• Explore what makes a good sexuality educator
• Review the Sexuality and Developmental Disabilities Manual & Curriculum
• Practice lesson plans from the curriculum
• Practice effective ways to teach sexuality education classes

Who should attend?

Teams from each agency should include a person with a disability and a staff person.  (Space is limited, so check availability if you want to send more than one team from your agency.)

Presenter:

• Katherine McLaughlin has been a Planned Parenthood of Northern New England Educator/Trainer for over 17 years.  She has presented Sexuality and Developmental Disabilities: Train the Trainer in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.  She has also worked directly with consumers and their parents.
