Vita/Bio

Dr. Sharonlyn Harrison, the Director of Research and Evaluation for the Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities, and Assistant Professor, Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, has more than 20 years of experience in evaluation of federal, state and locally funded projects and has received special recognition for her research in minority communities from the National Center for Cultural Competence, Georgetown University and the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research.  She obtained her doctoral degree in education evaluation and research and has extensive experience in conducting stakeholder-driven evaluation projects and engaging diverse communities in the process.

Dr. Harrison is also adjunct faculty member at American University where she teaches courses on culturally responsive and equitable evaluation research.  Prior to this, she taught research and diversity courses to undergraduate students at the Wayne State University School of Social Work, where she has been a part-time faculty member since 2011 and where she received the Excellence in Teaching award. Dr. Harrison is the former associate director of research, evaluation and information dissemination at Wayne State University, Developmental Disabilities Institute, (Michigan’s University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities).
