Vita/Bio

Julia Barol is with Temple University Institute on Disabilities on a part time basis working on Employment and Transition issues. She is also with Transition Consults where her work focuses on creating meaningful days. She believes that everyone should have to opportunity to live and work in their community and be able to self direct 

their lives. Julia holds a Masters in Secondary Special Education and Transition from The George Washington University where she is also an Adjunct Instructor. Since 2012, Julia has been president of the state chapter of APSE and is working to advance Employment First here in Pennsylvania. More recently she was elected to the national APSE Board of Directors as the Mid-Atlantic Delegate. This past summer she was awarded the ͞”2017 CESP of the Year͟” by APSE for her work in the development and expansion of the CESP credential in PA. She is a certified benefits counselor and trains groups on the intricacies of work incentives and Social Security 

benefits as well as healthcare options. Julia is also certified in the Discovery process, an alternative to the traditional assessment process that assists individuals with significant disabilities to discover gifts 

and interests to meet business needs. Julia has worked in the field since 1991.
