Research: |
1. I have two primary areas of focus in education research: transition among students with disabilities and teacher-student relationships among high risk youth. For the past 20 years, my colleguges and I have been (a) documenting long-term post-high-school outcomes among youth with disabilities, (b) identifying factors and processes associated with those outcomes, and (c) attempting to intervene in ways that improve those outcomes. 2. The second area of emphasis and focus of my research has been in focused on understanding how social relationships between teachers and students and between parents and students contribute to the academic, emotional, and behavioral adjustment of children and youth. This work has extended the early work of Robert Pianta by focusing on (a) students with disabilities, (b) early adolescents and adolescents, and children and youth of color in low-income and high poverty environments. |
