Vita/Bio

Joanna Katsanis, PhD is an Associate Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and Psychology. Dr. Katsanis is the primary supervisor for the Clinical Child/Adolescent Psychology Training Track in the Department of Psychiatry and the Director of the Anxiety Disorder Clinic in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the UA. Dr. Katsanis runs an adolescent mental health clinic on the Navajo reservation in Northern Arizona via Arizona Telemedicine. She has received training awards from the psychology interns and child psychiatry fellows. Her professional writings have appeared in national and international journals including the Journal of Abnormal Psychology, Biological Psychiatry and American Journal of Psychiatry. Dr. Katsanis teaches seminars and mentors child psychiatry fellows, psychiatry residents and psychology interns in psychotherapy and assessment. The Child and Adolescent Outpatient Clinic at the UA Department of Psychiatry provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services to individuals ages birth through 21 years, providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluation and treatment services that include: psychiatric evaluation; psychological testing; individual verbal and play therapy; family therapy; parent education; behavior management; medication management; psychiatric consultation; and, coordination of care with schools and other service providers.
