Vita/Bio

Jeffrey I. Gold, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist with expertise in pediatric psychology. He is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine, University of Southern California. Dr. Gold is the director of the Pediatric Pain Management Clinic at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles and faculty in the Pediatric Psychology Program providing training and supervision to the USC UCEDD APA-accredited internship and post-doctoral fellowship programs. Dr. Gold is a NIH-funded clinical researcher examining 1) the neurobiological basis of virtual reality pain attenuation, 2) neuropsychological dysfunction and neuroimaging abnormalities in neurologically intact patients with sickle cell disease, and 3) acute stress reactions in children following physical trauma (i.e., motor vehicle accidents). Dr. Gold is actively engaged in the evaluation and utility of complementary and alternative medicine (i.e., virtual reality, massage, acupuncture) for reducing pain, anxiety, psychological distress and increasing comfort and satisfaction in hospitalized children.
