John R. Lutzker, Ph.D., is the Director of the Center for Healthy Development
College of Health and Human Sciences at Georgia State University and a and Visiting Professor of Public Health.
Dr. Lutzker's current research interests are in intervention and prevention of child maltreatment, improving parenting skills, and services for children with autism and related disorders.
Biographical Sketch
Prior to joining the College of Health and Human Sciences at Georgia State University, Dr. Lutzker served as the Executive Director of the Marcus Institute. Precending this position, he was a Distinguished Consultant and Chief, Prevention Development and Evaluation Branch, Division of Violence Prevention, National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. He is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Divisions 25, 33, 37, 53), and is a Clinical Fellow of the Behavior Therapy and Research Society.
He is currently Associate Editor of the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Child Health and Human Development Journal of Family Violence, Child and Family Behavior Therapy, and Behavioral Interventions, and is the author of five books, including Reducing Child Maltreatment: A Guidebook for Parent Services and is editor of Preventing Violence: Research and Evidence-based Intervention Strategies (2006).
