Vita/Bio

Ali graduated from DePaul University with a B.A. in Psychology. Following the completion of her undergraduate degree, she worked at a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for adolescents as a behavior technician and Creative Writing teacher. There she was exposed to individuals diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Conduct Disorder, as well as co-occurring developmental disabilities. After her time at the PRTF, she explored career options within the private school realm. Ali worked as an aid for individuals with disabilities in Chicago, Illinois; her daily tasks included implementing behavior intervention plans, following individualized education plans, and recording behavior and skill acquisition data. It was there that she worked closely with the school Board Certified Behavior Analyst and realized her future career path. Ali has since been certified as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), and implemented 1:1 ABA therapy with individuals age 2 to 16. She has recently graduated from Ball State University with an M.A. in Applied Behavior Analysis with an emphasis in ASD and completed her required 1,500 hours of independent fieldwork required to sit for the BCBA exam. Ali has conducted functional analyses, functional behavior assessments, and preference assessments. In addition, she has written function-based interventions, developed plans utilizing antecedent strategies, analyzed data to determine effectiveness of treatments, and trained direct care personnel. Her final course at BSU was on supervision of human service staff, and she has extensive knowledge on training methods, effective supervision, and strategies to motivate DSP's.
