Vita/Bio

Marty began his professional career as a paraprofessional in a high school classroom for students with severe behavior disorders. He went on to teach special education at the middle school level, followed by several years as a project/program director at the Center for Persons with Disabilities (CPD) at Utah State University. Following his stint as the first AUCD Disability Leadership and Policy Fellow in 2001, he returned to the Utah CPD as the Assistant Director for Policy and Development. In 2008, he took the dual position of Associate Director of the Mountain Plains Regional Resource Center (MPRRC) and the Center for Technical Assistance for Excellence in Special Education (TAESE). In 2012 he participated in the first class of the UCEDD Leadership Institute and a year later accepted the position of Executive Director of the University of Montana Rural Institute.
