Vita/Bio

Dr. Seagriff-Curtin joined WIHD in 1993 as a part-time general dentist providing all phases of general dentistry to individuals with developmental disabilities. Prior to joining WIHD she was an associate in several private dental practices in New York. In 1999 she was appointed the Director of WIHD Dental Services. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Ninth District Dental Association, Special Care Dentistry Association, Active member and Chair of the Oral Sedation Committee of the NYS OPWDD Special Care Dentistry Task Force since its inception in 2002. She also sits on the local Ninth District Dental Association's Dental Health Planning & Hospital Dentistry Committee. Dr. Seagriff has also been the local coordinator of the Special Smiles event of the Westchester/ Putnam/ Dutchess Special Olympics Spring Games each year since 2000 providing oral screenings of the special athletes participating in the Special Olympics. She is responsible for the administration and daily operation of the WIHD Dental Department; provides comprehensive dental services for adults and children with developmental and intellectual disabilities, including outpatient sedation and ambulatory surgery; coordinates our Mobile Dental Van Outreach Program; seeks funding opportunities to enhance the oral health of individuals with mental retardation and promotes preventive dentistry by educating parents/guardians, caregivers, consumers and direct staff professionals on the importance of good oral health.
