Katherine Mahosky, PhD recently completed her doctorate in education with a specialization in Curriculum and Instruction. She is an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist since 1983 and holds licensure in speech-language pathology in Arizona. Katherine currently works at the Institute for Human Development overseeing an interdisciplinary graduate certificate in Disability Policy and Practice and a minor in Disability Studies. Her teaching includes an introductory course in disability studies and a seminar in disability at both the undergraduate and graduate level.

Dr. Mahosky has worked in the Flagstaff area since 1979 serving children and adults with communication disorders in a variety of settings.  She was a member of an interdisciplinary team that was responsible for screening and evaluating children across northern Arizona to determine eligibility for special education from 1983-1990.  For eleven years, from 1995 through 2006, she was the clinic director of the NAU Speech and Hearing Clinic that is part of the Communication Sciences and Disorders program at Northern Arizona University. Prior to becoming the Clinic Director at NAU, she owned and operated a private practice in Flagstaff.

Dr. Mahosky's specialty areas include evaluation and intervention of infants and toddlers with communication delays and persons with multiple challenges to learning.  She also has experience working with adolescents and adults with language/learning disorders including the impact of those disorders on reading and writing development.
