Application Deadline: October 2, 2019

AUCD is pleased to announce the availability of two types of trainee scholarships up to $500 eachPhoto of a young woman in a white blazer smiling and speaking to an older man in a checked shirt. Caption to the right says  to support trainees' attendance to the AUCD 2019 Conference:

  • 11 trainee travel scholarships
  • 4 trainee volunteer scholarships

Scholarships are available to (a) current trainees and (b) former trainees presenting work conducted while a trainee and completed their traineeship no earlier than December 2018. Priority will be given to those who have not attended the Conference before. The AUCD Conference is an amazing learning and networking opportunity!

Trainees may apply their $500 scholarship to support their attendance to the AUCD Conference, including hotel, air or comparable travel, or other expenses (excluding registration). Please note that awarded trainees (or their Program/Center) are expected to pay all costs associated with their attendance at the conference upfront in their entirety.

Trainee Travel Scholarships (11 available)

Those who receive Trainee Travel Scholarships are required to engage in activities that align with AUCD's Strategic Map.

You can also find more information on AUCD's Strategic Map on AUCD's website.

Applicants can choose their preference of which strategic priority they'd like to be engaged in, but it is not guaranteed. Each priority area will have opportunities for trainees to participate in-person and after the conference in different activities. Please look at the online agenda to check when each meeting session is happening to plan travels accordingly. You will be expected to attend all required sessions listed.

Volunteer Scholarships (4 available)

Volunteering at the AUCD Conference is a great opportunity to not only reduce your costs of attending the Conference but also receive hands-on leadership and learning opportunities about the AUCD network and the management of a national Conference. Those who receive Trainee Volunteer Scholarships are required to complete six (6) hours of volunteer time at the AUCD Conference. This may include working at the registration table, assisting with trainee-related events, managing rooms during concurrent sessions and poster symposia, as well as other activities as volunteer schedules allow. AUCD staff will work with you to find roles that fit your skills, interests, and availability as best as possible.

Trainees volunteering must communicate with the AUCD staff member and show up at the appointed time and place, and carry out appointed activities. If there is an activity the trainee would like to attend that either might pose a conflict for volunteering or that the trainee would like to specifically volunteer at, the trainee must communicate that to AUCD at least two (2) weeks before the Conference.

Application Process

Interested trainees for either opportunity are requested to submit a brief application online. Note: trainees are welcome to apply for both scholarship types, but only one scholarship will be awarded per trainee. Download the attached application form and fill it out, submitting the completed form online as well as required attachments. The application must include the following and will ONLY be accepted online:

  1. docx File Trainee Scholarship form, including your statement interest in attending the Conference. This file should be uploaded into the "proposal/project description" space.
  2. A current resume/CV (limit: 3 pages)
  3. One (minimum) letter of support from your program/center Director or Training Director

What is an Allowable Expense?
