Description
This session describes the development and deployment of a mindfulness-based group program for parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Mindfulness interventions emphasize maintaining awareness in the present moment, as well as non-judgmental acceptance of self and others. We present data on the use of our program in research, as well as adaptations and implementation in our broader community. Challenges, successes, and implications of the program will be discussed.Back to Session: Poster Symposium: Parent/Family Involvement, Support & Respite
