Council on Community Advocacy (COCA)

Location: Renaissance Ballroom East

Session Description

We are excited to again offer a series of free Driving Change Sessions on Sunday morning of the conference. This year we have invited our Network's five Councils to each host a Driving Change Session. Each Council is excited to share information that is relevant to its own mission and goals. Get to know our Councils through this fun and interactive experience!

Over the past 60+ years, people with developmental disabilities and their families have been speaking on behalf of themselves and others. Participate in an interactive Q&A style event, moderated by a panel of experts who will discuss how to examine the intersection of the lived experience of disability and the need for increased leadership from those with that experience within formal networks, including AUCD. The COCA has developed specific products and has been engaged with the AUCD central office and Board on strategies to increase leadership on the part of individuals with disabilities and family members, both within the network and also with partners in other arenas.

Participate in this session and be a part of a learning and sharing environment where you will hear from and share ideas with leaders from around the network on how to drive change in a specific area of disability policy, advocacy, or research, and give them the opportunity to learn more about the topic from expert panelists and participate in guided roundtable discussions on the topic with other attendees. These sessions are free for all registered conference attendees.
