Stories to Research to Practice
Monday, November 7, 2011 09:45AM - 12:45PM
Location: Regency Ballroom C
Session Description
Presented by the Council on Community Advocacy (COCA) with support from the National Gateway to Self-Determination (NGSD), this symposium will present and discuss strategies and resources for self-advocates, advisers and support staff, and UCEDD/LEND interdisciplinary staff.
By effectively telling personal stories, and with appropriate support from advisers and others, self-advocates can engage with findings from the research community to impact policy and practice in areas of critical need for people with disabilities. Real-life examples from self-advocates and their support staff, researchers, and practitioners will be presented.
