Nuts and Bolts of Incorporating Cultural and Linguistic Competence in Training Programs
Sunday, November 6, 2011 12:30PM - 03:00PM
Location: Washington Room A
Session Description
The National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) developed a curricula enhancement module series to increase the capacity of MCH-funded programs to incorporate principles and practices of cultural and linguistic competence into all aspects of their leadership training. The modules provide faculty with 1) a set of defined areas of knowledge, skills, and awareness; 2) instructional and self-discovery strategies; and 3) listings and links to a broad array of teaching tools and resources for each core content area.
This interactive workshop will provide an overview of the module series, concrete examples of how to use and/or adapt the content to the unique needs of your training program and/or setting, and discuss the challenges and opportunities in teaching this content. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops to have online access to the modules during the workshop.
