ECHO Autism: Training Community Clinicians to Provide Quality Care for Adults on the Autism Spectr

AUCD 2021 Conference Scholarships Available!

AUCD places great importance on having a diverse group of participants at the AUCD Conference. We seek to make the conference and all information presented as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, and recognize that cost can often be a barrier to attending. The AUCD Virtual Conference continues to provide a reduced registration fee for students, individuals with disabilities, and family members of individuals with disabilities. We are also providing both Leader and Conference scholarships this year to offset the cost of the virtual registration. AUCD's 12 Children's Mental Health Champions Complete Their Projects for the 2020-2021 Year

In 2020, the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) expanded its National Center on Disability in Public Health efforts with the launch of a new pilot program, Children's Mental Health Champions. This effort was made possible through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twelve Champions were selected, representing American Samoa, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Virginia, to serve as liaisons to the CDC's Children's Mental Health project in 2020-2021.

TTAP Battles Social Isolation with Connectivity Kits

In light of the pandemic and increased isolation in our communities, the Aging and Disability Resources Center of the Capital Area (ADRC) and the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) has partnered with the Texas Technology Access Program (TTAP) to create Connectivity Kits to help reduce social isolation by increasing connectivity for older persons, persons with disabilities, and their caregivers.

Request for Application: Regional Hub for Local Vaccine Outreach

Through an upcoming single-source award from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), a selection of up to four (4) centers or programs from the AUCD network members will lead regional hubs to coordinate local and regional COVID-19 vaccine outreach with the disability community as part of a larger effort, Local Vaccine Outreach with the Disability Community. Successful applicants will propose innovative strategies to rapidly share effective message delivery streams and local modalities to reach people with disabilities (including individuals not connected to service delivery systems), their families, and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), with the overarching goal of boosting COVID-19 vaccination rates in the disability community.

Request for Applications: AUCD-funded Pilot Study Using Administrative Data to Evaluate "Child Find" Early Identification Systems

This project will support evaluation of Child Find activities in 1-2 states using existing administrative data from the state early intervention (Part C) program and at least one other early childhood program such as preschool special education (Part B of IDEA), Medicaid, and developmental screening registries or a data system that already includes linked data from the Part C program and other early childhood programs.

PFP-IDE Alumni Ronald Kasule & Hassan Waddimba Launch Uganda's First Disability Accommodations Website

Ugandan Professional Fellows alumni Ronald Kasule and Hassan Waddimba have officially launched the DASUNS online platform (Diversity Ability Support Network System), which will broaden access to critical services for people with disabilities in their country. DASUNS (Diversity Ability Support Network System) is a social enterprise that provides information about disability resources and services in order to connect people with disabilities, service providers, and agencies. Its new website is a historic step forward for online access to disability accommodations in Uganda.

Call for Applications and Proposals

The Autism Intervention Network on Physical Health (AIR-P) seeks applications for the AIR-P Scholars & Pilot and Feasibility funding program during January-December 2022 project year. Proposals must address a topic or topics related to autism and physical health with a focus on enhancing the health and well-being of autistic people. Preference will be given to projects with an emphasis on underserved groups.

AUCD's Prepared4ALL initiative has been selected for the 2021 Horace G. (Hod) Ogden Award from the American Public Health Association's Public Health Education and Health Promotion Section.
