This presentation introduced the LEND Audiology Fellows to the Fostering Joy movement, which aims to promote positive engagement between families and their deaf or hard of hearing (DHH) children, and to bolster professionals' ability to emphasize joy in the work that they do with children who are DHH. The presentation included descriptions of Fostering Joy and the science behind why doing so is important. It also offered suggestions for audiologists interested in embracing a "joy lens" in their work.

When a child who is deaf or hard of hearing also presents as autistic, what can audiologists do to promote appropriate care? As part of Network activities, the AIR-P/ATN holds a monthly webinar series titled "Advances in Autism Research & Care" (AARC) which alternates autism research and care themes, and is available to all AIR-P/ATN network members, CAAI-sponsored programs, the entire LEND and DBP Fellowship networks, various other autism and pediatric organizations, collaborators, primary care providers, as well as autism advocates. Research webinars feature current AIR-P research study investigators, while care focused themes cover hot topics in the field of autism, and promote idea generation for future research.

The 2015 AUCD Conference will be held at the Washington, DC, Renaissance Hotel.

LEND audiology trainees and faculty are invited to take a deep dive into Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) policy. Trainees will learn about the basis for EHDI legislation, identify and discuss key issues that lawmakers are currently being asked to consider, and work in teams to develop effective advocacy strategies. There will be special emphasis placed on EHDI reauthorization and its implications for how state programs are carried out.
