The AUCD Meritorious Service Award is presented to an Association member or group in recognition of professional and personal efforts that proactively support AUCD in achieving its mission to advance policy and practice for and with people living with developmental and other disabilities, their families, and communities.

"Dan Bier has provided a strong and unifying presence under his supportive and watchful leadership. His effectiveness as the UCEDD Associate Director is as varied as the programs that are his charge to oversee. A foundational attribute is Dan's genuine interest and passion in supporting people with developmental disabilities along with their families. Dan will be retiring in the Spring of 2014. He will leave behind him a wealth of stories on how the lives of people with disabilities have improved as a direct result of his leadership for program and policy changes to support Community Inclusion."
