The AUCD Meritorious Service Award is presented to an Association member or group in recognition of professional and personal efforts that proactively support AUCD in achieving its mission to advance policy and practice for and with people living with developmental and other disabilities, their families, and communities.

"Shelley’s strong efforts to improve services so that people with disabilities have better lives resulted in a formal collaborative effort four years ago between the two Texas UCEDDs, creating the Institute for Person-Centered Practices. The Institute is recognized in Texas for providing training and support that results in quality outcomes. The Institute has a five year goal of training 2,500 individuals, and in four years has surpassed this original goal with 5,329 trained and still a year to go!"
