AUCD's 12 Children's Mental Health Champions Complete Their Projects for the 2020-2021 Year

In 2020, the Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) expanded its National Center on Disability in Public Health efforts with the launch of a new pilot program, Children's Mental Health Champions. This effort was made possible through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Twelve Champions were selected, representing American Samoa, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Virginia, to serve as liaisons to the CDC's Children's Mental Health project in 2020-2021.

AIR-P Scholars & Pilot and Feasibility Funding Program

Call for Applications and Proposals

The Autism Intervention Network on Physical Health (AIR-P) seeks applications for the AIR-P Scholars & Pilot and Feasibility funding program during January-December 2022 project year. Proposals must address a topic or topics related to autism and physical health with a focus on enhancing the health and well-being of autistic people. Preference will be given to projects with an emphasis on underserved groups.

AUCD 2021 Conference Scholarships Available!

AUCD places great importance on having a diverse group of participants at the AUCD Conference. We seek to make the conference and all information presented as accessible as possible to as many people as possible, and recognize that cost can often be a barrier to attending. The AUCD Virtual Conference continues to provide a reduced registration fee for students, individuals with disabilities, and family members of individuals with disabilities. We are also providing both Leader and Conference scholarships this year to offset the cost of the virtual registration. AUCD is collecting information about international activities across all member centers and programs. We are hoping to capture both the competency and capacity of the network. The results of this survey will inform activities of the AUCD Board of Directors and International Committee, and the level of support AUCD Central Office provides to network members regarding international activities.

We are proud to present AUCD's new podcast-- AUCD Network Narratives: Real Stories from Our Members. The podcast shares real stories from network members who are working to change systems and structures that impact people with disabilities. This first season focuses on network members promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion and reducing disparities for Black and brown disabled people. Be on the look in the next couple of weeks when our first episode will air.

In this webinar, we will share about AUCD's Language and Communications Access Plan and lessons learned from the first two years of implementation. From 2019-2021, the UCEDD Resource Center (URC) supported a pilot implementing the plan, with the creation of the Plain Language Advisory Group and Spanish Language Caucus. Join us to learn about the work of both groups, what the URC has learned in its efforts to improve the language and communications accessibility of its technical assistance, and how this might apply to the work at your center or program.
