This webinar was a collaborative effort between AUCD's Council on Research and Evaluation (CORE) and the National Association of State Directors of Development Disabilities Services (NASDDDS). The webinar focused on the following objectives:
1. Examine post-school employment outcomes for transition-age youth with intellectual disabilities, autism and other developmental disabilities;
2. Gain an overview of recommended and promising practices that increase employment outcomes for students with significant intellectual and developmental disabilities;
3. Discuss how research findings can be used to develop public policy to improve transition outcomes.

Speakers
Erik Carter, Ph.D. Vanderbilt University
Erik Carter is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at Vanderbilt University. His research focuses on educational and transition services for adolescents with intellectual disabilities, autism, and multiple disabilities; inclusive education; self-determination; and religion and disability. Dr. Carter recently conducted a secondary analysis of the National Longitudinal Transition Study2 (NLTS2) to determine predictors of postschool employment outcomes for young adults with severe disabilities.
Beth Swedeen, Executive Director, Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities
Beth Swedeen is Executive Director for the Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities and the principal investigator on the Board's ADD Partners in Employment systems change grant focused on improving employment outcomes for youth with I/DD. She is co-chair of Wisconsin's Survival Coalition of more than 40 disability organizations working to improve statewide policy and practice affecting people with disabilities, their families, and allies. She has contributed to more than 20 research and practice articles on youth transition and employment. She also is the parent of a daughter who is currently experiencing and self-advocating through her own transition to adulthood.
Beth Wroblewski, Director of the Bureau of Long Term Support, Wisconsin Department of Health Services
Beth Wroblewski is the Deputy Administrator of the Division of Long Term Care for Wisconsin's Department of Health Services. The Division oversees programs and services for adults and children such as: Community Options Program, Family Care, IRIS- Self-Directed Supports, PACE, Partnership, Community Relocation Efforts, Katie Beckett Medicaid Eligibility, children's Medicaid Home and Community-Based Services waivers and services including Autism Services and the Birth to 3 Program. Beth has over 25 years of experience in developing and overseeing services to children and families, individuals with disabilities, and frail elders, including those with dementia. She has worked as an adult day care and meals on wheels coordinator, a community integration specialist, the Birth to 3 Program coordinator and the Director of the Bureau of Long Term Support prior to taking on her current role as Deputy Administrator.
