Dr. Shockey is an Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing. She has been a nurse for 38 years and a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for 26 years; most recently as the NP providing team-based care for children receiving bone marrow transplants. Her philosophy is holistic care for the patient and family through establishing connections and relationships with interprofessional colleagues. She has been actively participating with the process of incorporating interprofessional training in academia for the past 5 years.
