Kelly  Roberts, PhD

Kelly D. Roberts, PhD, is an Associate Professor at the Center on Disability Studies (CDS) at the University of Hawai`i. She has worked at CDS since 1997. She has been the director of the Pacific Basin UCEDD since 2006. Presently, she is the PI or Co-PI on eleven federally funded projects, the majority of which have a research focus. She has served as the Vice-Chair for the AUCD Council on Research and Evaluation (CORE) since 2009, and currently serves as their Chair. She was also a recent participant in the UCEDD Leadership Institute.

Dr. Roberts' professional history spans multiple fields. She has taught in grades 6 through 12, both general and special education, and in adult education settings. She has worked in the mental health field and is currently conducting research on improving health outcomes for Hawai`i's youth. She is also a lead instructor in the CDS Disability Studies Certification program

Her research agenda is extensive and presently includes two large scale randomized control trials and research on promoting access and retention of individuals with intellectual disabilities in postsecondary education.
