LEND Project Manager

Join our growing team! AUCD is currently seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Project Manager working under the supervision of the LEND Technical Assistance Director. The individual filling this position will coordinate technical assistance activities of AUCD's cooperative agreement with the Maternal Child Health Bureau (MCHB). The cooperative agreement provides funding for the Interdisciplinary Technical Assistance Center (ITAC), supporting the national networks of MCHB-funded Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and related Disabilities (LEND) and Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) training programs.

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), located in Silver Spring, MD, is a national nonprofit organization that promotes and supports a national network of interdisciplinary centers on disabilities. The members of AUCD represent every US state and territory and include 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), 39 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Programs and 15 Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (IDDRC). Together, these organizations advance policy and practice through research, education, leadership, and services for and with individuals with developmental and other disabilities, their families and communities, in support of independence, productivity, and satisfying quality of life.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the MCHB Project Director and staff in the coordination of technical assistance and network activities
  • Coordinate the creation of technical assistance events such as site visits, meetings, webinars, and workgroups
  • Respond to requests for information and assistance with federal staff and Project Officers from the Maternal Child Heath Bureau and other partners
  • Address emerging needs within the maternal child health and developmental disabilities fields by supporting workgroups on issues of topical importance
  • Facilitate progress report development and project documentation to include evaluation
  • Provide information to the AUCD network and the general public as appropriate on project efforts through web postings, newsletters, and electronic publications
  • Represent the AUCD office, AUCD network members, and the cooperative agreement at meetings and conferences locally and nationally
  • Carryout other activities that further the mission and goals of AUCD

Required Competencies

  • Knowledge of the history of developmental disabilities including autism and their effects on individuals and their families
  • Knowledge of emerging issues in the maternal child health and disabilities fields
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects simultaneously
  • Exceptional communication skills: in person, in print writing, and in electronic modes
  • Demonstrated proficiency with word processing, database, and spreadsheet software
  • Demonstrated proficiency using web tools (email, website, social media, Skype) to communicate and exchange information
  • Knowledge of federal grant application, reporting, and evaluation processes

Required QualificationsAt least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in human services, project management or provision of technical assistance. Documented experience as a trainee or employee of a LEND or UCEDD program or similar experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. A Masters level degree in human services, clinical, disability, public health, or a related field is required.

  • Experience providing training or technical assistance in the maternal child health or disability field
  • Experience coordinating project activities
  • Grant, contract, or project management experience
