This individual will coordinate, plan and carryout a range of technical assistance and information exchange activities to support the State Disability and Health Programs through a cooperative agreement with the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The purpose of the cooperative agreement is to strengthen the nation's capacity to carry out public health activities in the areas of birth defects, developmental disabilities, and health promotion for people living with disabilities.
The Program Manager will work under the supervision of the AUCD-NCBDDD Project Director. The position title will depend on work experience and education related to position competencies and responsibilities
Required Competencies
- Experience in planning and providing technical assistance and consultation in the public health and disability areas.
- Demonstrated superior ability to communicate effectively through writing and speaking.
- Working knowledge of disability and/or public health issues.
- Demonstrate professionalism with the constituents of NCBDDD and the AUCD.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using Internet to communicate and exchange information.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using word processing, database and spreadsheet software.
- Demonstrated ability to work on and/or coordinate a number of simultaneous activities that have multiple components.
Responsibilities
- Work with State Disability and Health programs and respond to their requests for information and technical assistance.
- Actively foster cohesiveness and strengthen the network of State Disability and Health programs through communication, events, and technical assistance as needed.
- Serve as contact/liaison with NCBDDD/CDC, project sites and other partner organizations.
- Assist in writing progress reports, information bulletins and other project documentation.
- Manage the scheduling and development of technical assistance events such as meetings, webinars and conference calls.
- Coordinate and prepare materials and information for monthly conference calls, training events/conferences, web-based workshops and other relevant activities.
- Coordinate presentations, training and training materials as requested regarding project activities and respond to questions from participating sites as needed.
- Address programmatic and logistic challenges as they arise to help ensure project operations.
- Provide information to the AUCD network and the general public as appropriate on project efforts through web postings, newsletters and electronic publications.
- Represent the AUCD network as well as the cooperative agreement at national/state meetings and conferences.
Required QualificationsAt least 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience in human services, project management or provision of technical assistance. MPH, MS or MA in public health, disability, clinical or human services related field.
Desired Qualifications
- Research, training, direct service or technical assistance in public health or disability fields.
- Grant, contract or project management experience.
- Knowledge of UCEDD, LEND or other health and disability programs.
- Basic knowledge of scientific principles and grant process.
- Doctorate or work toward a terminal degree in Public Health or Disability fields.
