YAI is seeking an experienced grant writer who has a successful track record with writing and securing city, state, and federal grants to join our Strategic Initiatives Department. The grant writer will have a demonstrable record of achievement in securing funds from government agencies and foundations, sound familiarity with government contracting processes and various funding streams, solid writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and ability to change writing styles to fit the audience.

Responsibilities:
•   Researching potential funding opportunities and synthesizing pertinent information
•   Responding to request for proposals
•   Coordinating grant submissions from start to finish including:
            o   preparing letters of intent
            o   reviewing the literature    
            o   writing narratives
            o   working with key staff to obtain programmatic and financial information
            o   submitting applications
•   Working with the Strategic Initiatives Department to complete program requirements (post-award)
•   Developing project plans with appropriate timeframes to effectively communicate and work with staff
    and funders
•   Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
•   Bachelors degree (Masters preferred)
•   Five years of grant writing and project management experience in the nonprofit sector
•   Demonstrated knowledge of federal, local, and state grant application procedures and best practice in 
    the nonprofit sector.
•   Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literate
•   Excellent analytical and research skills
•   Highly organized, able to multi-task, and work with deadlines.
•   Highly strategic and entrepreneurially thinking supported by precise execution of all plans.
•   Ability to articulate YAI's message to a broad range of constituents and the general public.
•   Strong commitment and passion for the organization's mission.
•   Strong commitment toward diversity and inclusion; values diversity of background, thought, and
    perspectives.
