UI REACH Director - College of Education, University of Iowa

The College of Education seeks qualified candidates for the position of UI REACH Director. UI REACH is a nationally renowned certificate program for 18-25 year old students with intellectual disabilities. Students live in the residence hall, take courses on campus, and participate in student life, campus activities, and internships in the community. Transition and consultative support services are provided after students graduate from UI REACH.

Position Summary

The UI REACH Director provides oversight of and strategic direction to the UI REACH program and provides leadership in continued development of UI REACH programs, programmatic research, and evaluation of services and outcomes. In addition, the Director provides outreach to and collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups to improve organizational effectiveness and continued improvement. This includes the University of Iowa and College of Education departments, faculty, staff and students and the UI REACH advisory board, state legislature, media, families, alumni, business and community stakeholders. This is a 12-month position.  The person in this position may be eligible for a faculty appointment.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Special Education, Higher Education Administration, Rehabilitation, Counseling, or a closely related field, or combination of education and experience that demonstrate the candidate meets the qualifications for this position.
  • Extensive (typical experience is a minimum of 5 years) administrative and program management experience, including budget oversight.
  • Experience with individuals with disabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with faculty, administrators, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated job-related experience with and/or commitment to diversity in the work or academic environment, including the ability to work collaboratively and with diverse populations.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to meet and maintain the UI Fleet Safety program driving requirements.
  • Overnight travel on occasion may be required.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working in a college or university.
  • Experience with program evaluation.
  • Experience in grant writing, fundraising and obtaining competitive external funding.
