Position Description

The Executive Director serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Learning Disabilities Association of Hawai‘i (the "Agency"). This person is an employee of the Agency, reports to the Board of Directors of the Agency (the "Board"), and serves at the will of the Board. The Executive Director is responsible for implementing the mission of the Agency, managing the activities of the Agency, and monitoring the sustainability of the Agency in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with the Board and Staff to implement the Agency's strategic plan(s) to accomplish the mission of the organization.
  • Develop funding sources to accomplish the mission of the organization.
  • Complete grant applications, or other fundraising opportunities appropriate for funding the mission of the organization.
  • Supervise, monitor, and evaluate the organization's services and staff
  • Maintain good public relations and community visibility.
  • Fulfill all reporting requirements of the Agency.
  • Implement other contractual arrangements determined by the Board to be in the best interest to the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a discipline related to human services
  • 5 years of experience in a human services related organization

Desirable Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in management and staff supervision or equivalent
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocacy on behalf of persons with special needs
  • Specialized knowledge concerning special education advocacy
  • Experience in providing training to parents and professionals
  • Personal experience as a parent or family member of a person with disabilities
  • Successful experience in directing a non-profit organization
  • Familiarity with child serving State systems and their branches (eg. DOE, DOH, DHS)

SalarySalary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
