2017 Assistant Virtual Trainee

Posted: Friday, December 2, 2016

With AUCD member programs in every state and territory, our trainees have an incredibly powerful outreach. The Assistant Virtual Trainee (AVT) works remotely from his/her home Center or Program for six (6) months during the 2017 Spring academic semester to build and enhance a network among trainees across all 67 University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDDs), 52 Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) programs, and 10 Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) programs.

This is an exciting opportunity for a current trainee to develop their leadership and communication skills, promote the meaningful exchange of information about issues related to people with disabilities and special health care needs, and become more familiar with the broader AUCD network while having a national impact on the disability field.

The AVT is expected to spend approximately 2 to 3 hours a week on position-related tasks, not including event travel, and will receive ongoing supervision from AUCD's Program Specialist, Maternal and Child Health Technical Assistance and the Virtual Trainee (VT). AUCD will provide a stipend of $500 for the semester (paid to the individual or program based on university/institution policies) and fund all appropriate travel costs (registration, transportation, lodging, etc.) associated with attending the Disability Policy Seminar (March 19-22, 2017) in Washington, D.C.
