Description:
The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC) for Research on Human Development is accepting applications for a fellowship in the area of reading development and disabilities. The mission of the VKC is to facilitate discoveries and best practices that make positive differences in the lives of persons with developmental disabilities and their families. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center provides an exceptional research and training environment, reflecting synergy across our NICHD-supported Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Center (IDDRC) and various departments across the University and Medical School, including, but not limited to, Neurology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Special Education, Psychology, Hearing and Speech Sciences, and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

The 1-year fellowship is supported by funding from the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center and NIH grants. The fellow will make research contributions to an innovative, interdisciplinary collaboration of Vanderbilt faculty to assess, understand, and optimize our understanding of reading development. The fellow will help coordinate, analyze data from, and prepare manuscripts for several projects focusing on reading development. The fellow will receive mentorship by Dr. Laurie Cutting.

This postdoctoral clinical fellowship is a one-year, full time, paid position with fringe benefits, commencing January 2017. Salary is commensurate with NRSA postdoctoral stipend levels. Previous experience in and knowledge of reading development is highly preferred. The applicant must be enrolled or have completed a graduate program in a related field and be seeking additional training in research.  We are looking for an applicant whom is enthusiastic, hardworking, comfortable engaging with children and their families in person and on the phone, and has excellent communication skills.
