Position Description.  This is a unique full/part time opportunity for an Internist or Family Physician at the Westchester Institute for Human Development's (WIHD) outpatient Adult Health Services program for adults and transition-aged youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The successful candidate will closely collaborate with health care providers in 17 medical specialties to provide comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate care. In addition, he or she will have opportunities to supervise and train medical students, residents and fellows from New York Medical College, as well as to participate in clinical research. The successful candidate will be the primary care physician for adults with disabilities as part of an interdisciplinary medical home based approach to care.

WIHD provides nearly 50 programs and services to families and professionals throughout Westchester County and the Lower Hudson Valley.

Qualifications.  Minimum qualifications are: Board certified in Internal Medicine or in Family Medicine; licensed to practice medicine in the state of New York; and a strong interest in improving health outcomes for people with disabilities. Well-qualified applicants will have the following:  prior experience working with adults with disabilities; experience working in an interdisciplinary setting and in supervising residents, students, and other UCEDD trainees.
