Position Description

One of Maryland's most respected nonprofits serving individuals and families living with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges seeks an experienced leader to assure compassionate delivery of best-in-class services and sustainable growth. The Chief Executive Officer will lead Providence Center by enhancing the organization's financial strength, administrative and services infrastructure, and services to its clients. The CEO will lead a highly motivated and self-directed team, build relationships with public and private agencies and partners, and increase the beneficial impact of Providence Center's programs on the community. He/she will be the chief advocate and fundraiser for the organization, its programs and operations, with an ability to speak prominently and passionately about Providence Center, the individuals they serve and their families.

Founded in 1961, Providence Center is the region's first private nonprofit serving children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and is a recognized leader in the field throughout the region and across the state. It provides individuals and their families the resources needed to build on individual strength, chart their own paths in life, and find meaningful, contributing roles in their community. Providence Center's budget is about $10 m, with 87% of direct service funding provided by government entities and the balance by private payers, contributors and income-generating options. Currently serving 480 adults in four facilities, Providence Center has 204 full-time and 16 part-time staff which includes care-providers with diverse qualifications, nurses, allied health professionals, social workers, and an array of support staff and management professionals. The organization is guided by a 17 member governing board.
