Job Description  Seeking a talented clinician to join an interdisciplinary team to work within a stimulating academic environment. Provide diagnostic and treatment services to children as a staff member in the Developmental Disabilities clinics, which includes the Autism and Developmental Disabilities, Feeding Team, Newborn Follow-up, Down syndrome. Provide support and education to families. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary clinical services team to conduct diagnostic evaluations and therapeutic services. Perform evaluations of relevant communication skills. Review records and make preparations for interdisciplinary or discipline-only clients. Document clinical services in compliance with institutional requirements, including electronic medical records and interdisciplinary recommendations. Provide limited term direct services to other clinics/programs in the Waisman Center as needed. Train students in clinical diagnostic and therapeutic services. Select formal and informal assessment approaches for children of all ages. Administer selected assessments and provide expert interpretation. Support duties include: clinical training of UCEDD trainees as needed; assistance in preparing grant and contract applications; fostering coordinated planning and programming with others in the Waisman Center UCEDD and the Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC); exploring opportunities to become involved with Center-based research initiatives and becoming involved as opportunities arise and time and resources permit.

Qualifications   Advanced degree (Masters' degree or Ph.D.) in Speech Language Pathology is required. Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Wisconsin in Speech Language Pathology. Expertise with a specialization in the area of developmental disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, is highly preferred. Two to three years prior experience providing assessments and treatment for children with a variety of developmental disabilities is also strongly preferred. Well-qualified applicants will have experience with: children of varying ages with diverse, significant disabilities and multiple impairments, including autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders (Down syndrome), low birth weight, premature infants and others with complex medical needs; feeding assessments; interventions for children with speech/language delays, deaf or hard of hearing; and experience using medical devices. Experience working with non-English speaking individuals and families is highly desirable. Bilingual skills in both written and oral communication from English to Spanish and vice versa would be beneficial.
