The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University is one of the sixty-seven University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research and Service funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (www.disabilities.temple.edu). The Institute on Disabilities is a vibrant, diverse organization and considered a national leader in leadership development, assistive technology, Disability Studies, justice for people with disabilities, policy analysis, and inclusive education.

The Institute has the following position available:

Assistant Director, Academic Programs (Full-Time)


Reporting to the Co-Executive Directors, the Assistant Director, Academic Programs for will coordinate university-based programs including the Disability Studies Certificate Program, the Interdisciplinary Faculty Council and the graduate student assistantship program, which includes an interdisciplinary seminar. In addition, this position includes a portfolio of research development and implementation.

The Assistant Director will instruct the non-credit graduate seminar, collaborate on the implementation of the graduate assistant poster session, work to increase enrollment in the Disability Studies certificate program, and explore the feasibility of an undergraduate certificate/minor in Disability Studies. The Assistant Director will maintain and enhance the composition and engagement of the Interdisciplinary Faculty Council on Disability and develop productive relationships with other institutions of higher learning to promote Disability Studies. Providing support to the quantitative analyses of Institute research and evaluation activities and leading efforts to increase the writing, submission and publication of articles promoting the work of the Institute are also functions of this role. Performs other duties as assigned.
