Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Injury or Disability Research - University of Massachusetts Lowell, Lowell, MA

The Department of Work Environment, University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a post-doctoral fellow in injury or disability research. This is a full-time, benefited position with funding for an initial period of one year. Pending satisfactory performance, the position is typically extended to two years. The primary goal of the program is to develop the research careers of recent doctoral graduates with a focus on injury or disability, through a program that encourages creativity and independent discovery in a collaboration between two research institutions with extensive records of accomplishment in these fields.
The post-doctoral researcher will conduct ergonomics, safety, injury epidemiology, or disability and return to work research in close collaboration with research scientists at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety (LMRIS) in Hopkinton, MA, as well as with faculty in the Department of Work Environment at UMass Lowell (UML). Duties will include original research, publishing in the peer-reviewed scientific literature, participating in seminars and work groups, and collaborating on research grant applications. He/she will spend roughly equal amounts of time in residence at each institution.
Requirements:
The successful applicant will have a doctoral degree in epidemiology, psychology, engineering, physiology, health sciences, safety, or disability research, or a related field. The candidate will have less than five years' post-doctorate experience, a demonstrated record of individual initiative and originality in research, strong analytic skills, and potential to become an independent academic researcher within two to three years. Preference will be given to applicants whose training, skills and research interests match the research interests of mentors at LMRIS and UML.

The annual salary is $50,000, plus a generous benefits package. The start date will be between 6/1/2016 and 9/1/2016 depending on candidate availability. This position is contingent upon funding.
