The Center for Elementary Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE) is a Research and Development Center that resides within the Physical Sciences Division of the University of Chicago. CEMSE continues the University of Chicago's long-standing commitment to improving pre-college education and aims to support high quality mathematics and science instruction and learning for all students. Through the sharing of knowledge and the creation of useful products and programs, CEMSE seeks to make a positive difference for mathematics and science instruction throughout the nation.

CEMSE is currently seeking to fill a Research Specialist position.

Job Summary:   The Research Specialist assists education leaders at The Center for Elementary Mathematics and Science Education (CEMSE) within the University of Chicago to develop a high school financial literacy curriculum and associated supports. The qualified candidate will contribute to the project's mission by providing technical and administrative support for primary research; prepare manuscripts and other documents; edit documents for clarity; conduct literature reviews which require the ability to research similar bodies of work which will serve as a foundation for curriculum development; organize, summarize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data; plan meetings; track projects and tasks; provide research on trends and best practices; and assist with learning standards aggregation and correlation documents.

The Research Specialist will be expected to participate in professional meetings to discuss research, curriculum development goals, and implementation strategies. Strong analytical, writing, and administrative skills are a high priority in supporting and collaborating with staff.
