CHILD/PEDIATRIC PSYCHOLOGIST POSITION
SPECIALIZATION IN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS

The Department of Pediatric Psychology at CHOC Children's Hospital (CHOC) and The Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the University of California, Irvine are jointly seeking a full-time child/pediatric psychologist who specializes in autism spectrum disorders to join our expanding team of psychologists and services.

Primary job responsibilities include diagnostic and treatment services for children and adolescents with suspected or already diagnosed autism spectrum disorders in an outpatient, interdisciplinary medical setting. Experience in providing developmental and/or psychological/neuropsychological testing to children and adolescents with suspected autism spectrum disorders is required. Although this position is primarily clinical in nature, it will also include education and training, program development, community outreach, advocacy and research responsibilities. This position will work in collaboration with a treatment team which includes neurologists, psychiatrists, developmental and behavioral pediatricians, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other allied health care professionals (i.e. speech pathologists, occupational therapists, & ABA therapists). The position will also provide the opportunity to serve individuals with ADHD, language, learning and intellectual challenges as well as a variety of other neurodevelopmental disorders.

The Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders has recently received catalytic funding to further develop their interdisciplinary model and to expand the care they offer. The Center has a strong reputation within the community for providing services to children and families. The individual selected to join our team will have the opportunity to develop this comprehensive model of care and provide help and hope to individuals and families.

Both CHOC Children's Hospital and UC Irvine have a strong commitment to teaching. This position will have the opportunity to participate in the supervision and training of students in psychology, pediatrics and other related disciplines. The Department of Pediatric Psychology at CHOC Children's Hospital has a well-established APA-accredited internship program, as well as postdoctoral fellowships and practicum students. The Center is a part of the Autism Speaks ATN (Autism Treatment Network).

Requirements include completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program and internship in psychology with training in child/pediatric psychology at both the internship and postdoctoral levels. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed post-doctoral fellowships in child psychology with a focus in Autism Spectrum Disorders. Candidates must be licensed or license eligible in the State of California.
