Counseling Services, a unit within the Student Health and Counseling Services, invites applications for one Counselor and Clinical Services Coordinator position (Full-time, Tenure-Track Faculty, SSP-AR I,12 months). The position requires direct and indirect clinical services (counseling, crisis intervention, treatment planning, case management, consultation, outreach services, and clinical supervision for unlicensed clinicians). Some evening and weekend hours are required to provide outreach, meet workload demands and/or fulfill departmental responsibilities, including participation in the after-hours on-call rotation team and/or in the event of a crisis or campus emergency.
Coordination duties include coordinating intake and walk-in schedules, monitoring the flow of clients, assessing the efficiency of the intake process, ensuring counselors' availability during walk-in hours, and maintaining waiting list. Assisting the Interim Director with coordination and in his/her absence facilitating the clinical staff peer consultation group meetings. Assisting the Director in advising the Counseling Services team in the development of departmental policies and procedures related to clinical service delivery, with significant projects taking place during non-peak clinical times of service delivery. Serving as backup to the Interim Director for requests for records and with coordinating clinical records in electronic health records. Assisting with orientation of newly hired clinical staff regarding issues related to clinical services coordination.
Required qualifications include: A doctorate in behavioral sciences, clinical or counseling psychology, or a specifically related academic field; licensed as a Psychologist in CA or eligible for reciprocity, and must be licensed in CA within six months of employment; must be licensed for at least 2 years; minimum of 2 years full-time experience in a University and/or College Counseling Center; experience in brief counseling with individuals, couples, and groups; experience in crisis intervention and a broad range of presenting problems; experience working with diverse populations; experience developing and implementing a broad range of outreach services; experience supervising, training, and evaluating unlicensed clinicians. Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: licensed for at least 3 years; a valid license to practice as a psychologist in California at the time of application; completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program and an APA-approved pre-doctoral internship; experience in a leadership role or coordination of a program; specialty in serving the mental health needs of African American, LGBTQ, and/or male college students; extensive experience working with eating disorders, or addictive and compulsive disorders; specialty, interest in, and experience working with survivors of trauma; and experience working with serious mental illness in an outpatient setting.
