This is an exceptional opportunity to do innovative work implementing the Employment and Community First CHOICES program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the first program of its type in the nation with employment at the forefront. This position is responsible assisting in the development and implementation of employment programs within the MLTSS environment and leveraging existing employment programs such as Vocational Rehabilitation, Working Healthy, and Ticket to Work to maximize employment experiences for those we serve.

Primary duties include:

  • Assisting in the development of a robust network of ECF employment providers.
  • Responsible for leading the statewide implementation of employment services for LTSS programs, developing relationships with various state departments (such as DOE, DOL and VR) to access and coordinate resources and provide ongoing leadership of employment services and supports for Amerigroup staff and providers.
  • Acts as Subject Matter Expert as it relates to Employment and collaborates with CHOICES and ECF lead trainers to train staff and the provider network on employment initiatives and strategies; represents Amerigroup on employment related boards, councils, workgroups.
  • Monitors the health plans percentage of individuals who are engaged in or pursuing integrated competitive employment, identifies trends through data mining and works to alleviate systemic barriers when identified.
  • Develops and implements strategies to increase the percentage of individuals who are engaged in or pursuing competitive, integrated employment.
  • Assists Care Coordinators and Support Coordinators in troubleshooting potential barriers to employment for their members.
  • Contacts social agencies and employers in the community to identify job leads and assists members with disabilities in securing employment based on member feedback and potential use of career profile assessments and person centered planning.
  • Requires extensive business development activity, including telephone sourcing and face-to-face meetings.
  • Trains LTSS staff on employment initiatives and programs and keeps leadership apprised of changes regarding disability employment policy and federal guidance.
  • Develops system (by collaborating with LTSS, and others internally and externally) to assist members in developing long-term employment goals.
  • Develops system for tracking member profiles that show job and education experiences.
  • Provides education and support to employers as agreed upon by clients which can include negotiating job accommodations.
  • Assists in development and implementation of Amerigroup Project SEARCH sites

Qualifications - External

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Rehabilitation Counseling or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in developing employment services and supports for persons with disabilities in integrated settings, which must include at least one (1) year experience directing such programs or services.
  • Working knowledge of disability employment policy and federal programs such as the WORK program, Vocational Rehabilitation, and Ticket to Work.
  • Understanding and experience implementing employment programs for people with varying degrees of talent and experience, utilizing discovery to determine employment focus as well as experience and education to determine best employment opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Preferred undergraduate degree in mental health, social service, business.
  • Knowledge of the state of Tennessee Medicaid and health service plans is highly preferred.
  • Position must sit in our Nashville location. Position will require 20-30% travel.
