Executive Director - Jewish Residential Services (JRS), Pittsburgh, PA

Posted: Monday, February 8, 2016

As a result of the upcoming retirement of the founding Executive Director, the Jewish Residential Services (JRS) Board of Directors has initiated a search to identify its next Executive Director. The Board has retained Nonprofit Talent LLC to assist with this process.

JRS was established in response to the Pittsburgh Jewish community's recognition of a critical problem - the need for housing and support services for adults living with mental illness or with intellectual disabilities. In 1993, JRS opened its first residential program, located in Squirrel Hill, serving eight individuals with a history of serious mental illness. Today, JRS is a licensed and accredited nonprofit organization with a $1.2 Million operating budget and 23 staff. Last year, JRS touched the lives of more than 250 individuals with disabilities, as well as many of their families, through a variety of programs-residential, educational, rehabilitative, and social-all enriched by Jewish values, culture, and practices, and welcoming to people of all religions and backgrounds.

The Executive Director is responsible for assuring the delivery of high quality services through best practices and outcomes-based programming, within a financial framework established by the Board. Strong management skills, innovation, and energy are required to optimize the delivery of services while maintaining financial stability for the organization. JRS seeks a leader who can be nimble, adaptable, and compassionate; and who has experience leading individuals and teams and seeking out and negotiating partnerships.
