Description:
The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC) for Research on Human Development and the Department of Pediatrics Division of Developmental Medicine is accepting applications for a clinical psychology postdoctoral fellowship in the area of autism and related developmental disabilities. The mission of the VKC is to facilitate discoveries and best practices that make positive differences in the lives of persons with developmental disabilities and their families. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center provides an exceptional research and training environment, reflecting synergy across our NICHD-supported Intellectual and Developmental Disability Research Center (IDDRC), MCHB-supported Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) grant, and programs within the Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD).

The fellowship is housed within TRIAD--the hub for campus-wide interdisciplinary work in autism research, service, outreach, and training. The fellow will make clinical contributions to innovative assessment, training, research, and support programs for children with autism and their families. This will include participation in various aspects of our vibrant autism research community. Training activities include involvement in diagnostic evaluations of both very young children and school-aged children with suspected ASD through a variety of research projects and our hospital-based developmental clinic. In collaboration with our TRIAD Outreach Team and Families First program, fellows will develop and deliver training modules to parents, early interventionists, and school personnel; participate in school consultations; and developing inclusive activities with community partners. Fellows will often provide evidence-based treatment to young children with ASD and their parents as part of ongoing research protocols. Active participation in new and ongoing research is expected.

As an integral part of the training year, the VKC/TRIAD fellow will serve as a long-term trainee under our Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) program. The fellow's role as a long-term trainee requires participation in at least 300 hours of on-line seminars, leadership classes, and other required activities during the academic year.

This postdoctoral clinical fellowship is a one-year paid position with fringe benefits, commencing September 2016. Salary is generally commensurate with NRSA postdoctoral beginning stipend levels (currently $42,840). Previous clinical training and experience in working with children with autism spectrum disorders are required, as is completion of an APA-accredited PhD/PsyD clinical, school or related doctoral program and internship. Completion of dissertation defense and other graduation requirements prior to September start date is necessary as a provisional psychology license in TN will be required. Supervision and other supports toward licensure will be provided.
