Postdoctoral Fellowship in Autism Spectrum Disorder Research - School of Health Professions, Department of Health Psychology, University of Missouri

The Department of Health Psychology at the University of Missouri is seeking candidates for a two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship position (an initial one-year appointment, subject to reappointment for a second year). focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) research beginning in September 2016. The training experience will include a strong emphasis on specialized ASD research techniques and methods, as well as collaboration across disciplines. The postdoctoral fellow will collaborate on ongoing federally-funded autism research projects focused on treatment outcome, improving access to care, and understanding core and comorbid symptoms in children and adolescents with ASD. The fellow will also have opportunities to design and test new ideas and to collect pilot data for future projects. Publication of peer reviewed manuscripts, presentations at national/international scientific meetings, and development of research grant applications will also be central components of the training experience. The fellow will also have opportunities for clinical training in both ASD assessment and intervention within the context of clinical research projects. Training in interdisciplinary research, opportunities for publication and grant-writing, and competence in novel research techniques will be excellent preparation for an independent research career.
Research and training activities will occur primarily at the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders at the University of Missouri. The Thompson Center is a state-of-the-art facility focused on improving the lives of individuals with ASD and other developmental disorders through best-practice clinical care, interdisciplinary research, and training (http://thompsoncenter.missouri.edu/). The University of Missouri is the first public university west of the Mississippi River, is a major land-grant institution, and is Missouri's largest public research university. Eligible candidates should have a Ph.D. in clinical psychology or related degree, with evidence of the potential for excellence in scholarship and research. A record of peer reviewed publications and experience in ASD research is preferred. Eligible candidates should also have the ability to work creatively and collaboratively, and have a strong interest in interdisciplinary research.
