Endowed Professor Position - Department of Human Development and Family Studies, University of Delaware

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Delaware invites nominations and applications for an endowed professor in Disability, Families and Communities. We seek a visionary senior scholar with a strong applied research program, preferably engaged in collaborative research on the linkages between social policies impacting health, poverty and families and disabilities. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in human development, family studies, sociology, disabilities studies, community psychology, social work or a related field. A strong record of externally funded research; commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching; ability to build effective partnerships; knowledge of federal policy and contemporary practice; and a desire to work in a collaborative, forward thinking, interdisciplinary environment are required. This is one of three new hires this year centered on building an emphasis on disabilities and family concerns in a developmental context.

The Department has a strong commitment to scholarship and teaching, as well as to pre-service and in-service education. HDFS is a vibrant interdisciplinary, vibrant academic unit within the College of Education and Human Development. The department includes 19 faculty and staff who teach and supervise approximately 480 undergraduate and 50 graduate students, and offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. All of the department's programs stress applied scholarship, interdisciplinary approaches, inclusion, risk and resiliency, and issues of diversity. The department houses a state of the art Laboratory Preschool, the Delaware Institute for Excellence in Early Childhood, New Directions Early Head Start, and the National Leadership Consortium on Developmental Disabilities, and has close ties with the Center for Disabilities Studies (a UECCD) and a disability studies minor which are housed in the College.
