The University of Tennessee Health Science Center and affiliated practice group UT Le Bonheur Pediatric Specialists (ULPS) are seeking a new Division Chief (MD, DO, PhD) to lead an outstanding and well-established Division of Developmental Pediatrics. Successful candidates must be board certified in Pediatrics (if an MD) and eligible for appointment as a tenured Associate Professor or Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee. The position involves a commitment to excellence in resident and student teaching, clinical practice, research, and management of the Division of Developmental Pediatrics. The position also carries with it the management and supervision, as Director, of the UTHSC Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities (BCDD). The BCDD is an interdisciplinary center with programs that support children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through training, service, applied research, information dissemination, planning, and policy development. The BCDD administers both LEND and UCEDD grants, and the BCDD Director will have overall responsibility for these programs, either directly or through individual directors of the programs. The candidate will be responsible to the Chair of Pediatrics in all activities. A new children's hospital, expanding academic programs, and outstanding salary and benefits through a new practice plan make this position very inviting.

Clinical and clinical administrative duties include direction of the Developmental Pediatrics Division and care for children with or at risk for developmental disabilities. The Chief will work closely with the division members to shape strong clinical programs in areas of community need. Neurodevelopmental disabilities are a particular area of interest. The Chief will have full authority to develop a clinic schedule among faculty members to maximize efficiency, expand services, and improve the outpatient clinic experience for patients. The Chief will participate in recruitment and development of new faculty members for this division as needed to enhance academic and clinical productivity. Education responsibilities will include participation in all departmental educational activities for trainees, teaching medical students and residents, and conducting the educational mission of the BCDD.

The Division Chief will lead and facilitate the continued expansion of research activities in the division, including further development of her/his own research interests. A candidate with a track record of extramural funding and a well-developed research program is preferred. The Chief should encourage and facilitate collaborative research activities by the division faculty across the UTHSC campus and with other community stakeholders. A record of mentoring and development of trainees and young faculty to achieve their academic goals is essential. Significant resources for recruitment and development of faculty within the Division will be made available to the right candidate.

UTHSC is part of a large, state-wide network of higher education with campuses in Memphis, Knoxville, Nashville, Tullahoma, Chattanooga, and Martin. The Memphis campus consists of six Colleges (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Professions, Nursing, and Grduate Sciences) located in a downtown Medical Center. Le Bonheur Children's Hospital is an academic health center with a newly built (2012) 255 bed, state-of-the-art hospital serving a catchment of ~850,000 children in 95 counties across 6 states. Students and fellows from all 6 Colleges at UTHSC rotate through Le Bonheur for their pediatric training.
